$20,000 haphazardly spent

I went to the meeting, spoke my part, and slyly complimented every member of the committee - I could hear Sum 41 playing at the football field already. Then it came time to vote on who would make the "maybe" list. We went through them all, and Sum 41 was conspicuously left out. I pointed out this obvious accident to the Committee Chair. She replied: "Yeah, we scratched them." I stood up with an uproar and started hurling people across the room ... metaphorically. In reality, I just sobbed pitifully in the corner of the room for 20 minutes.
In the end, what I am trying to tell you is that you can have a major impact on events here at Trinity. You just need to ask around and find the right people. A small group of people can make big decisions, such as the Welcome Back Concert. However, if you decide to continue to be inactive on campus, then don't be surprised if a 6'3" Asian dude is Cranking Dat Soulja Boy at the 2010 Welcome Back Concert with $20,000 in his pocket.

Amusing article, but you're right, people need to get involved. It's not a big time commitment to come to this meeting and it can really make a big difference if maybe 50 people came instead of just 10. (Continued…)
