To Avatar or not to Avatar
You have the choice to grab your 3-D specs and start learning the new "Avatar" language - or not.

The plot was ok, but pretty predictable. The acting was good, not great. The movie is ridiculously beautiful to watch, like tripping on Pandora acid, but it doesn't move you. Go rent "Up" and try not to feel overwhelmingly sad watching the introduction. That is what good movies are made of: raw emotion in storytelling, not gimmicks or special effects.
Unfortunately, people cannot stop salivating at the delicious 3-D frosting on top of the average cake.
TV makers, such as Samsung, have already used the success of the movie to prove their mass production of 3-D TVs is a good step forward in home entertainment. Very soon, we may all have a personal pair of 3-D specs to watch "The Office."
George Lucas has even gone on record saying that he would like to re-release Star Wars in 3-D in light of the success of "Avatar." You heard correctly, nerds: James Cameron is going to taint your precious Star Wars.
Before "Avatar 2" is upon us (James Cameron has already said it's happening), take a step back and really think about the movie. If it helps, go see it in 2-D. Because a truly good movie does not remain in our eyes but in our hearts.
